Types Of Dewalt Batteriesĭewalt manufactures batteries in different sizes and voltages to cater to the various power needs of other appliances. With respect to the battery and charger's performance, the battery quickly charges up and performs well in my DeWalt jobsite radio. The bottom line being, a one line sentence in the Instruction Manual such as "Press the yellow tab on side of battery to release the safety cap and to also remove battery from charger." would have sufficed. Pressing this tab immediately released the red safety cap. After re-examining the battery I noticed the yellow indentation on one side of the battery was a depressible lock/un-lock tab. I was about to take a flathead screwdriver and attempt to pry it off when common sense prevailed that this was not right. I tried for several minutes to remove the cap without success. The Instruction Manual does not address removing this safety cap, but provides a drawing showing the cap sliding off the battery to the right. The only issue I encountered was removing the red cap that protects the battery contacts when in transit. This is my first experience with and using a DeWalt Lithium-Ion battery and its 6.0 AH charger.
